The Ahafo regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has observed that any attempt to defend former Sanitation Minister Cecelia Dapaah, would make the party look like “fools”.
Mr. Kwabena Owusu Sekyere in an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show insisted that government is already struggling to win over the public to save with the banks so if a senior member of the party has been caught keeping large sums of moneys at home, then it is foolish to defend her.
“Defending Cecil would make us look like fools. Government is suffering to tell the business sector to save at the bank and as a sector minister she is keeping that money at home. This isn’t a good thing and never should any member of the party try to defend it that is why the President has fired her from post”, Mr. Owusu Sekyere said.
He continued that we need savings at the banks to improve our forex and the singular act by Madam Cecilia Dapaah, has made nonsense of the culture of savings that government is trying so hard to instil in Ghanaians.
“You have $1 million under your bed for one year? Those serving this government under President Akufo-Addo should know that it is the party that birth government else their actions would affect the party… € 300,000 and 1 million in your room; someone would ask as a minister how much is your pay? We have to condemn it”, he emphatically said.
