Dean Henderson ‘On The Verge Of Signing £100,000-A-week Deal’ To Stay @ Man Utd

Manchester United have reportedly offered Dean Henderson a new contract worth £100,000-a-week in a bid to keep the ambitious goalkeeper tied down at Old Trafford.

Henderson caught plenty of attention last term between the sticks on loan at Sheffield United, where a string of impressive performances helped Chris Wilder’s side to an unexpected top-half finish in the Premier League.

However having since returned to his parent club, the 23-year-old is not prepared to sit on the bench behind David de Gea and is keen on continuing his development by playing first-team football.

According to The Sun though he is ‘on the verge’ of putting pen to paper on a new improved contract which would extend his current deal by two years until 2024.

On top of this an optional year has also been included which can be activated at any time.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is impressed by the former England Under 21 keeper and sees him as legitimate competition to battle David de Gea for the No 1 spot.

The new deal would see Henderson nearly double his existing salary of £60,000 which he only signed last summer.

Henderson has come through the United academy set-up yet remarkably has yet to make his senior debut for the club despite having held a professional contract since 2015.

Following two successful years on loan at Bramall Lane, the Blades are keen to bring him back to the club for a third season and talks are taking place with United over another temporary switch.

Chelsea have also been keeping tabs on Henderson’s situation with Frank Lampard having lost patience with Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Should Henderson sign a new deal at Old Trafford it would take the club’s wage bill just on keepers to over £550,000-a-week.

De Gea currently earns £350,00-a-week while his reserve Sergio Romero pockets £70,000 and back-up Lee Grant picking up £30,000.
