Dealing With The Volta Secessionists Threats Isn’t Beyond The Capability Of President Akufo Addo – Irbad

Alhaji Irbard Ibrahim, has noted that given the pedigree and track record of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in addressing international crisis issues, he is confident that solving the secessionist attempt by the Homeland Study Group Foundation is not beyond the capability of the President.

Alhaji Irbard who hosts Wontumi TV’s popular late night talkshow programme, “Security Tips” recalled that Nana Addo was influential in broking a peace deal between the Hezbollah and Israel when he was Ghana’s Foreign Minister in the John Agyekum Kufuor’s government.

“Just recently, Nana Addo who is now the Chairman of ECOWAS used his influence and skill to solve the Malian political crisis which would have become a big burden on countries in the West African Sub- Region.” He noted.

Alahaji Irbard who is an International Security and diplomacy expert was speaking live on Wontumi TV/Radio on Monday in an early morning talk show programme hosted by Martin Abu- Prah.

On whether the suspects should be charged with treason he suggested to the Attorney General’s office to seek advice on the right charges to be proffered against the suspects who are currently in the custody of the national security.

The International Security Expert debunked perceptions in certain quarters that the national security operatives appear incapable of dealing with the secessionist threat.
“Ghana’s Military is rated among the best five international peace keeping forces and therefore have the capability to deal with the situation but they have to be cautious. Ghanaian troops are currently in Sudan and D.R. Congo to forestall peace and harmony in those regions.” He explained.

According to Alhaji Irbard, the past seven years or so have put all nations on alert because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic with all necessary precautions being taken to control its spread.

He added that the insecurity in Ghana’s northern neighbor, Burkina Faso, has also created a security alertness situation for the country’s military and the arms of our intelligence agencies.

“These two dominant major security threatening situations have for the past six to seven months been the underlying factors of our country’s security alertness and preparedness so our security cannot be said to be ineffective or inactive in the face of the secessionists moves.”

Meanwhile, President Nana Akufo Addo last Thursday re-affirmed the confidence the government has in the ability of the country’s security and intelligence agencies “to stop such threats and clamp down on activities of the secessionists.”
