COVID-19- ‘We Are Letting Our Guards Down’- Akufo-Addo Weeps
President Akufo-Addo, has bemoaned that the COVID-19 data is a clear indication that Ghanaians have stopped adhering to the COVID-19 protocols.
According to him the total number of active cases stands at 4,094.
In his update #26 which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, he said, 1,394,540
tests have been conducted, 101,170 persons have been infected with the
virus, and 96,255 have been recorded.
He stressed that the increased infections have largely been driven by the Delta Variant
of the virus.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized that it appears that,
unfortunately, Ghana is experiencing a third wave of COVID-19
infections.
He reiterated that, “this is the time when the economy is on the
rebound, and business activities picking up, must do everything
possible to contain this outbreak. We cannot afford to return to the days
of partial lockdowns, which brought considerable hardships and difficulties
for all of us.”
Akufo-Addo admitted that, mask wearing is difficult but it’s the only antidote that can save the nation.
“I ask this evening that we remain steadfast in our
adherence to the protocols, so we can overcome this third-wave of
infections,” he passionately appealed.
