COVID-19 Still In The System, Adhere To Preventive Measures- Bibiani MCE Appeals To Ghanaians
Chief Executive of Bibiani, Ahnwiaso Bekwai Municipality, Hon. Alfred Amoah, has renewed appeal to Ghanaians to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 preventive measures as directed by President Akufo-Addo.
He reminded them that, the disease is still prevalent in the system even though the infection rate has gone down and this makes it pertinent that everybody take the necessary precautionary measures..
Hon. Amoah who was speaking on Wontumi Radio and TV’s Election 2020 flagship programme said that, as far as his Municipality is concerned, said the collaborations among all major stakeholders including Nananom of the Bekwai Traditional Council, health service personnel and some public spirited individuals has helped to control the spread of the pandemic in the area.
He added that, the Municipal Assembly on its part played the leadership role by distributing nose masks and sanitizers to the residents as well as placing Veronica buckets at vantage points for the washing of hands.
“Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) staff also aided in conveying suspected patients to the isolation centers.” He said
According to Hon. Amoah, they screened all the travelers who arrived in the Municipality during the lockdown period yet the Municipality recorded some cases.
“If we have COVID-19 cases in the Municipality now I don’t think it would even be up to 10 cases.” He noted with joy
The Bibiani-Ahnwiaso-Bekwai MCE, however re-emphasized that Ghanaians do not have a choice than to strictly observe the social distancing protocols, sanitize their hands and more importantly, use the nose mask as often as possible.
He stressed that, Ghanaians can choose to live a comfortable life only after the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced that the disease is no longer a threat to Ghanaians and that there is no risk of the disease being imported into the country.
In its latest update on Ghana’s Coronavirus case count, the GHS announced that the confirmation of 143 new cases.
This brings the cumulative case count to 45,012 with 43,898 recoveries. The active cases thus currently stand at 831.
The death toll remains 283.
According to GHS, out of the 831 active cases, 6 are in critical condition, 3 on ventilators while 16 are severe.
