COVID-19: Nearly A Million People Received First Jab- President Discloses
President Akufo-Addo has said that nearly a million of Ghanaians received the first jab of the AstraZenica vaccine.
He reiterated that, the target is to vaccinate some twenty million Ghanaians.
In his 25th address to the nation on measures taken to combat the spread of the virus monitored by Wontumionline.com, the President confirmed that, the deployment of the second dose of the vaccination will commence on 19th May to 26th May 2021.
He appealed to Ghanaians to take the vaccine when it gets to their turn.
According to President Akufo-Addo, Ghana has seen a marked reduction in the active cases.
“Persons who currently have the virus have reduced from 5,444 to 1,314,” he disclosed.
He noted that, the rate of infection has dropped from 400 a day to 100 a day.
He bemoaned that, 176 persons have lost their lives from the COVID-19.
However, President Akufo-Addo further disclosed that, one million, one hundred and twenty one thousand, one hundred and sixty eight tests have been conducted.
“The fight against the COVID-19 is not over. let us continue to adhere to the protocols. Until all countries have rid-themselves, no one is safe,” he stressed.
