COVID-19: 20 Million Ghanaians To Be Vaccinated- Dr. Nsiah Asare Hints
The Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare has hinted that twenty million Ghanaians equivalent to sixty percent of the population have been targeted to be injected with the Astra Zeneca Vaccines.
According to him, the first batch of the vaccines are expected to arrive in the country by close of this week.
Speaking exclusively on Kumasi-based Wontumi Radio/TV’s Morning Show captured by wontumionline.com, he said that, the injection of the vaccines would commence on early March.
He noted that, proper arrangements have been put in place for the injection.
Dr. Nsiah Asare revealed that, there would be five groups of persons who would be vaccinated.
“The arms of government thus the President of the Republic, Nana Akufo-Addo would be the first person to be vaccinated to let Ghanaians believe that the vaccines are safe.”
“When it reaches Kumasi too Otumfuo Osei Tutu would also be vaccinated to give assurance to the people.” He added.
The Presidential Advisor on Health said that, health workers, security agencies, the aged and hypertension patients would receive the injection.
He urged the general public to participate in the injection exercise to curtail the spread of the virus.
“The vaccines are safe. It has been vetted by Food and Drugs Authority.” He said
Dr. Nsiah Asare however said that, the vaccines would be freebie.
He urged the public to report any person who will make attempt to sell the vaccine to the police.
