Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has admitted that when it comes to corruption related matters, the subject normally catches him off-guard.

In an interview on CTV which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, the NDC leader admitted that in that infamous interview with the BBC in 2016 where he was asked whether he has taken bribe before, the question dazed him.

Mr. John Mahama explained that he was was never prepared to be questioned on corruption  related matters despite attending an anti-corruption summit.

Addressing the issue, the former President and leader of the NDC stated that “the question was a discourteous question…They characterized every African leader as corrupt… It is that perception that made the journalist ask that question… The question caught me off guard and I answered him.

It would be recalled that guilt was written all over the face of former President Mahama when he was questioned on taking bribe whilst in office.

The interview took place on the sidelines of 2016 Anti-Corruption summit which was organized by the UK government.

Below is the exact question the BBC journalist posed to former President Mahama during the event.

Journalist: “Mr President have you been offered a bribe before?”

John Dramani Mahama: “As a President?”

Journalist: “As John Mahama!”

John Dramani Mahama: “As a human being?’

Journalist: “As a person.”
