Clearing and convincing signs that the Suame Interchange project is about to commence began as Bulldozers zoomed to some areas of Suame to begin a massive demolition exercise targeted at unauthorized structures wrongly positioned in the path of the major road project.
Wontumi Radio/TV reporter, Emmanuel Duah witnessed some aspects of the demolishing.
Some affected residents expressed mixed feelings about the ongoing demolition exercise.
According to them, though the government alerted them but did not offered the a chance to evacuate from the said land.
They added that the demolition exercise left many residents stranded
Nana Tiwaa and eyewitness also said, “it’s our wish to get the interchange, we were informed even last week and I don’t see anything wrong with that. We supposed to evacuate before today but time couldn’t permit us. We don’t really have problem at all, it’s our prayers they complete it on time to enhance traffic”
She added that their worries would be when the contractor leaves site after the demolition.
The Suame Interchange project, which is in fulfilment of a pledge the President made during a tour of the Ashanti Region last year, will consist of a four-tier interchange at the current Suame Roundabout, with overpasses at the Abrepo, Krofrom, Anomangye, Magazine New Road and Abusuakruwa junctions.
