A communications team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freda Prempeh, has urged government appointees to ensure that the communication gap between the leadership and party communicators is closed.
Speaking on Movement In The Morning Political Show on Tuesday, Mrs. Prempeh bemoaned the fact that many party communicators are unable to project and speak on many developmental projects being undertaken by the government as they are not abreast with the necessary information.
She blamed this on the part of appointees in charge of these projects, as she noted that several attempts by party communication directors to get this information so they could also relay it to the communicators have proved futile.
“I will commend Parker, the NPP Greater Accra Regional Secretary and Uncle Ebo, Greater Accra communications officer because they have tried all they can to ensure that government appointees are able to update party communicators on the progress of government’s project but all to no avail”, she said.
She went further to state that if party communicators are abreast with information on government’s projects, it will be to the advantage of the government and not to the communicators.
“That’s our job so when you are done executing the projects please provide us with the needed information so we can relay it to the ordinary Ghanaian, and for the electorate to know what the government of the day has been able to do”, she fumed.
She said, “nobody will do that on our behalf and I don’t think this should be a difficult thing to ask”. Adding that they are tired of always seeking information.
According to her most Ghanaians are lamenting bitterly over the slow pace of development since the Akufo-Addo led administration assumed office, meanwhile government has executed a lot of projects which are not made known to the citizens.
“Ghanaians are always complaining about not seeing what the government has done since it assumed office, meanwhile the government is doing a lot”, she revealed.
“Ministers, Chief Executive Officers of State Owned Institutions(SOI), MMDCE’s, we are pleading with you, kindly furnish us with progress on government’s projects. You can also send a soft copy on social media without meeting us and we will read and update Ghanaians on what the government has been doing. It would be an indictment on the part of Ministers, CEOs and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives to allow the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to succeed with their propaganda that the NPP did nothing during their eight years of governing the country,” she stated.
She urged executives of the party to build a cordial relationship with members of the party, especially those at the grassroots level, in order to break the eight.
