The Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Isaac Ken Yeboah has addressed Rex Omar’s ‘take to the street’ comment stating that as citizens, it is wrong to promote statements that put fear in the lives of others.
In an interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, the respected CID boss stated that the Ghana Police Service has a Cyber Crime Unit that monitors every post people make on social media and the other media outlets.
He continued that if they find a post or comment by someone offensive, they swiftly pick the person up and ensure such acts are not repeated.
Rex Omar, a known sympathizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that “Election 2020 Nobody is going to court! We’ll settle every matter on the street”.
Responding to the comment, COP Isaac Ken Yeboah explained that “…if someone says and does something bad, he can be arrested and sent to the police…We have officers monitoring various media outlets and we proceed to pick the culprit up when they say something wrong.”
He added that “our cybercrime unit has equipment to monitor and some police officers are vibrant on social media and trained to check out what people are saying or doing…People shouldn’t do things to bring fear in other people’s life, it is against the laws of Ghana”.
