Christian Atsu Has Been Removed, Says Hayatspor Official

Hayatspor report that Christian Atsu has survived after being rescued from the debris following the catastrophic earthquake in Turkey.

Christian Atsu and Hayatspor’s sporting director, Taner Savut, were trapped under rubble after the earthquake, and while Atsu was found alive after a lengthy search, Taner Savut has yet to be found.

“Christian Atsu has been removed injured. Unfortunately our sports director Taner Savut is still under the wreckage. We are coming towards the end of the most dangerous hours,” said the club’s press relations spokesperson Mustafa Ozat.

He added, “I just had another meeting. Christian Atsu was taken to hospital with injuries.”

Atsu scored a 97th minute free-kick as Hatayspor beat Kasımpaşa S.K. on Sunday.

As per official reports, over 1,300 individuals have lost their lives and about 6,000 more have been injured in the disaster.

A significant aftershock with a magnitude of 7.5 struck Turkey’s south hours after the initial quake, causing it to be felt again in Syria and Iraqi Kurdistan.
