Child ‘Thief’ Grabbed At Linda Dor

Child ‘Thief’ Grabbed At Linda Dor

The Police at Linda Dor rest stop at Bunso roundabout on the Accra-Kumasi Highway in the Eastern Region over the weekend arrested a passenger in a bus travelling from Accra to Drobo in Bono Region, over suspected abduction.

The suspect (name withheld) was travelling with a seven-year-old boy who was crying uncontrollably and throwing tantrums throughout the journey from Accra, thereby raising suspicion of abduction.

Some of the passengers, who were not comfortable with the boy’s actions, raised an alarm at the rest stop at Bunso Junction and handed him to the police.

The suspect was said to have provided unconvincing answers on why the boy was fussy for no apparent reason.

The suspect told police during interrogation that the mother of the boy had travelled abroad suddenly and therefore left the boy for him to be sent back to Drobo.

The police ignored his explanations and locked him up in the cells while awaiting further evidence from family members of the boy before he could be released.

A police officer who narrated the incident on radio said “we had a call that someone is travelling with a child who is crying uncontrollably and they suspected he might have been abducted,” adding “when the bus arrived at Bunso Junction the police went to the bus to pick the suspect and the boy.”
