Chief Takes On Kwesi Pratt: “You Are Old; Speak Sense” About Elections

Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II, a respected Chief and a political analyst, has subtly responded to comments by Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr encouraging the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to reject the results of 2020 elections.

The managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Mr. Kwesi Pratt Jnr is on record to have advised Mr. John Dramani Mahama not to accept the 2020 election results if he isn’t satisfied with it the process.

Prior to Mr. Pratt’s call, Mr. Mahama in a speech at his party’s 28th anniversary stated that the NDC will not accept the results of a flawed election.

As the leader of the NDC, I wish to serve notice that we shall do our part to ensure that our country remains peaceful and the electoral process proceeds smoothly. But, and a big but! let nobody assume that we will accept the results of a flawed election”, he said.

Commenting on the topic on an Accra based radio station which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, Kwesi Pratt stated that there is nothing wrong with the call by former President Mahama and that he is right to reject the verdict of 2020 if he doesn’t believe it is fair.

What is wrong with Mahama’s statement?” he rhetorically asked.

He also stated that when elections are flawed, “Nobody would accept a flawed election. So John Mahama shouldn’t accept a flawed election.”

But Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II contends that the call by Mr. Pratt is not a wise call.

He directly told the managing Editor of the Insight newspaper that “You are old; speak sense. You don’t have strength and to stop people if you are calling for violence. What can you and John Mahama do if this nation is plunged into chaos? You speak as if your sense has been reversed.”
