Chairman Wontumi’s Judgment Date Moved from July 3 to July 20

The court hearing the Samreboi case involving Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has granted the defence two weeks to file its written address before judgment is delivered.

Lead counsel for Chairman Wontumi, Lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea, speaking to journalists after the proceedings, expressed confidence in the defence’s case and indicated that his legal team would thoroughly review the court records before submitting its final written arguments.

According to Lawyer Atta Akyea, who recently assumed responsibility for the case, obtaining and studying the complete record of proceedings is necessary to ensure that the defence presents a comprehensive legal argument.

“Every accused person has the constitutional right to legal representation. As defence counsel, it is our responsibility to demonstrate that the prosecution has failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt,” he stated.

He further expressed optimism about the outcome of the proceedings.

“I believe the judge appreciated our submissions and saw merit in our arguments,” Lawyer Atta Akyea said.

The defence has been given two weeks to file its written address, after which the court is expected to deliver its judgment on July 20, 2026.

Lawyer Atta Akyea assured that his legal team would carefully examine the entire record of proceedings and pursue every necessary legal process before returning to court to file the written address.
