Ahafo Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Kwabena Owusu Sekyere has disclosed that the president Nana Akufo-Addo did fire the former Minister of Sanitation, Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah from post following the alleged stolen of US$1m, €300K and some amount of Ghana cedis from her residence.

According to him, the President has made it known to the public his stance in fighting corruption in Ghana by setting up institutions among other steps in this fourth republic.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Wontumi TV/Radio in Kumasi, Mr Owusu- Sekyere said, ” Sometimes it’s very stupid to defend some issues. First of all, I must thank the president, I heard people say the Hon Minister of Water and Sanitation resigned. In actual fact, she was sacked. The president doesn’t tolerate this behavior”

“The government encourages Ghanaians to save their foreign monies at the Bank to boost the economy, so why should a whole sector Minister kept such huge monies in her home”

He said, the Minister has brought disgrace not only unto herself and her family but unto the entire NPP as a party.
“This disgrace isn’t for her only but the party at large, it’s an honor to serve your party and the nation at the highest office of the republic therefore we must be transparent. What my sister did is not fair and I urge all party members not to defend her. It’s wrong that’s why the president has sacked her. How can you put US$1m in your room for one year?” The Bono NPP Regional Chairman asked. asked.

Mr Sekyere has advised government appointees to stay away from acts that will damage the image of the party while be kind to society as well as considering the plight of ordinary Ghanaians.

“It’s the party that forms government, when you are lucky and called to serve, be kind, respect and show love to others, when things fall apart, society will surely stand behind you for your good deeds.” He said.
