CCC Gives 100 White Canes To Blind Union, Commits To Give Every Year

The General Overseer of Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC), a Kumasi based Charismatic Church early Wednesday morning donated 100 specially made white canes to the Ghana Blind Union at a brief ceremony at the Church’s premises.

In a symbolic presentation, Reverend Ransford Obeng handed over the canes to Mr Alfred Tabi, Head of the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations and intimated that it was to aid them in their movements.

Reverend Obeng encouraged the union to distribute the canes to its members and make them mobile as well as active.

“These canes are special in that there is an in-built system where it can tell users any danger ahead of them”, Rev Obeng explained.

ADMONITION:
The CCC leader advised the public to treat persons with sight challenges with respect and dignity.

He urged drivers to give the right of way to persons with sight impairment.

Reverend Obeng added that Ghanaian society would be seen as a polished or enlightened one when it treats people with disabilities well.

“On behalf of CCC I do pledge our renewed commitment to the Blind Union and that we would give to help the Union every year”, Rev Obeng stated.

APPRECIATION:
Showing appreciation, Mr Alfred Tabi thanked CCC for the gesture.

He particularly thanked Rev Obeng for showing interest in the affairs of the union by personally arranging for the donation which is the second time CCC was carrying it out.

On his part, George Kyerematen, Chairman for the Blind Union appealed to other churches and faith-based groups to emulate CCC by supporting the Union.

Coordinator for the Blind Union,  Ivan Heathcote Fumador commended CCC for its commitment to the Union for the promise of a yearly donation to the association.

Present at the brief ceremony were staff of the Blind Union as well as Elders at Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC).
