The national Convenor of Cashew Watch Ghana, a Civil Society Organization championing the development of Cashew Sector in Ghana, Mr. Raphael Godlove Ahenu has underscored the impacts of the Cashew industry towards economic growth and the fight against poverty in Ghana.
Speaking during a dialogue meeting with political parties on Cashew sector challenges at Regent Resort Hotel in Sunyani, the Bono Regional Capital, Mr Raphael Godlove Ahenu noted that Cashew Watch Ghana deemed it necessary to engage political parties on the issue of challenges confronting the Cashew sector for amicable solution.
He said his outfit organized the dialogue meeting because potentially, the Cashew sector can facilitate Ghana’s economic growth and reduce poverty with a positive global market price for Cashew in the next 6years.
The Member of Parliament for Jaman North constituency, Hon. Frederick Yaw Ahenkwaa during the meeting disclosed that Cashew farmers must prune their cashew farms to create spaces for ventilation because cashews always need air to be able to bear more fruit to benefit the farmers stressing that the decision of Cashew Watch Ghana will instil hope for Cashew farmers and motivate them to work assiduously to safeguard their families economically and the country at large.
Finally, a farmer who spoke with Angel News emphasized the importance of the program denoting that it has taught Cashew farmers how to dry their cashew nuts and its benefits, the importance of pruning the Cashew farms and other farm practices that will enhance the growth of the Cashew industry in the country.
