Buy Only FDA- Approved Mouth Wash- Ghanaians Urged
Head of Ashanti Regional office of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mrs. Nora Narkie Terlabie, has advised Ghanaians to purchase only FDA- approved mouth wash products.
She said Ghanaians should ensure that, the Authority’s registered number is printed the mouth wash product anytime they want to purchase it.
In an interview on Wontumi Radio/TV, Morning Show, Mrs Nora Narkie noted that, the Authority’s special number is written as FDA-REG followed by a number
Those who go out to purchase mouth wash products should therefore be vigilant so they do not buy unregistered products.
“If any mouth wash product doesn’t have the FDA’s number embossed on it, then it means it hasn’t been approved by the Authority because there could be fake ones on the market.
Mrs. Narkie Terlarbie also urged manufacturers to be cautious when buying hydrogen peroxide used for the manufacturing of mouth washing products from approved sources.
Earlier on the FDA boss drew the attention of Ghanaians to the sharp increase in the demand for hydrogen peroxide leading to a panic buying scare and said this came to light during a monitoring exercise carried out by her outfit with officers from the Pharmacy Council.
“This makes it pertinent for everybody to be concerned about the situation because some unscrupulous persons can ruthlessly exploit the high demand situation.“ She cautioned.
