The Ahafo Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Owusu Sekyere has raised concerns about what he alleges is an attempt by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to register minors and foreigners in the ongoing limited registration exercise in the region.
In an interview with Oheneba Nana Aseidu on Wontumi TV/Radio, he said “We shouldn’t underate the NDC. We should be more vigilant. Yesterday, after my tour to all the centers in the region, six (6) Burkinabe’s where intercepted to register there names in the Asunafo south after interrogation by our agents and the EC, they admitted to be Burkina Faso Citizens”
He went on to highlight the occurrence of similar issues in other centers like Asunafo North, Kenyasi, Duah Nkwanta and Bekyem with an attempt to register foreigners
Chairman Owusu expressed his concerns regarding to attempt by the opposition to push in more foreigners in the register.
“You can clearly see that diabolically, some people in a deliberate attempt have mobilizes them at a location and distribute the one after the other. It could be a different story without our agents from those jurisdictions who know their own people by faces”
“The constitution has stated it Clare that 18 years and above are allowed to register their names, he added”
