BREAKING: Andre Ayew Leaves Swansea City After Premier League Promotion Failure
Ghana captain, Andre Ayew has finally ended his relationship with English Championship side, Swansea City, the club have confirmed.
The 31-year-old finished the 2020/21 season as the top scorer for the past two seasons, amassing 35 goals since returning from a loan spell at Fenerbahce.
Confirming the Ghana international’s departure, the club said: “Swansea City can confirm its retained list following the end of the 2020-21 season,”
”Andre Ayew, Kieron Freeman, Declan John and Barrie McKay have seen their contracts come to an end and will depart the Liberty Stadium.” the statement added.
Ayew and his Swansea team suffered a 2-0 defeat to Tariqe Fosu’s Brentford FC in the EFL Championship play-off final game at the Wembley Stadium last week Saturday, denying them promotion back to the English Premier League.
Andre Ayew, who is now a free agent has been linked to Crystal Palace among other clubs this summer.
He is expected to team up with his Ghana national teammate for the international friendlies against Ivory Coast and Morocco this month.
Ghana will host Ivory Coast at the Cape Coast Stadium before travelling to Rabat for the game against Morocco.
