Bosomtwe District Honors Its Agricultural Heroes at a Spectacular 40th National Farmers Day Event

On Friday, November 8, 2024, the nation celebrated the hardworking and dedicated farmers during the 40th National Farmers Day.

The event, held under the theme “Building Climate Resilient Agriculture for Sustainable Security,” was a grand affair in the Bosomtwe District, with top officials and residents from across the area in attendance.

Farmers proudly showcased their produce to mark this special occasion.

Kwame Bonsu from Oyoko was crowned the overall best farmer in the district, receiving widespread praise for his contributions to agriculture.

Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Member of Parliament for the area and Minister of Education, was also honored for his significant role in the district’s Farmers Day celebration.

Representing Dr. Adutwum, the Bosomtwe NPP Chairman, Mr. Addai Poku Aikins, highlighted the importance of recognizing farmers and their vital role in the country’s development, emphasizing that without their hard work, life would be much harder.

Mr. Aikins stated that the government is dedicated to providing various forms of support to farmers, recognizing their significant contribution to the nation’s growth.

District Chief Executive Officer, Lawyer Joseph Assuming, expressed his gratitude to the farmers for their dedication and support of both the district and national development. He also reassured residents that, with the help of the DRIP machines, the district’s roads would soon be repaired.

As his tenure nears its end, Lawyer Joseph Kwesi Asuming thanked the people of Bosomtwe for their support and sought their forgiveness for any shortcomings.

 

Kwame Bonsu, visibly excited by his award, encouraged fellow farmers to stay motivated and continue their hard work, aiming to win the regional best farmer title next.

He also urged the youth to consider farming as a viable future career, stressing that it will provide long-term benefits as they age.
