Bosomtwe Constituency Celebrates 39TH Farmers’ Day Version In A Grand Style

The 39th edition of National Farmers’ Day was held on 1st December 2023 under the theme ‘Delivering Smart Solutions for Sustainable Food Security and Resilience’.

The calendar event is meant to celebrate gallant farmers and fisherfolk for their invaluable contribution to the development of our country.

The Bosomtwe Constituency celebrated its version at Piase in a grand style.

1O farmers including a physically challenge person were honoured yesterday for their hard work and immense contribution to the Constituency.

66-year-old, Kofi Dankwa was named the overall best farmer in the Constituency.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Member of Parliament for the area, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum who doubles as the Minister of Education, said Akufo Addo is greatly concerned about farmers hence the introduction of the Planting for Food and Jobs program.

Dr Osei Adutwum said farmers contributed massively to Ghana’s independence emphasizing that Ghana can be developed if attention is paid to farming.

He posited that the display of foodstuffs for the celebration is evidence of the President’s vision.

However, he appealed to parents to be concerned about their wards’ education urging them to attend PTA meetings.

“Let teaching be attractive to teachers at Bosomtwe. I came into politics to contribute my quota to Bosomtwe development. I have done my part and I want to leave a legacy behind.

Madam Agartha Arhia who represented the District Chief Executive, Hon. Lawyer Joseph Kwasi Asuming said the effort by farmers in the country’s growth cannot be overlooked.

Madam Agartha Arhia said the government has the farmers at heart and has introduced agriculture programs like Planting for Food and Jobs and Rearing for Food and Jobs etc to motivate farmers.

Kofi Dankwa, the overall best farmer who was overjoyed thanked the government for recognizing his hard work.

Kofi Dankwa said, that though he is aged the award has motivated him.
