Kingson, who made 90 appearances and competed in two World Cup tournaments in 2006 and 2010, believes he has done an excellent job as Black Stars goalkeeper’s trainer.
Charlton Athletic man Jojo Wollacott has been the first choice since October 2021 and is expected to start in Qatar, but he faces competition from South Africa-based Richard Ofori, the Black Stars’ second deputy captain, Lawrence Ati-Zigi, and Nurudeen Manaf. Danlad Ibrahim of Kotoko is also said to be in contention for the World Cup.
“The goalkeepers we have now have confidence, and you can see that from the recent games we have played. They want to do something for the nation, and for me, that department is safe. Anybody who gets the chance to be in the post will give off their maximum best,” Kingson told GNA.
Kingson revealed working closely with Otto Addo to pick the best goalkeepers for the World Cup.
Black Stars are in a difficult group, competing for a place in the knockout stages against Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
“I want Ghanaians to come together to support the Black Stars with all our energy because it is our own no matter what,” he added.
Black Stars will play Portugal on November 24, South Korea four days later, and Uruguay on December 2 in a rematch of the 2010 World Cup quarter-finals.
