BBC Presenter Apologises For Incorrectly Announcing The Queen’s Death

BBC presenter Yalda Hakim has apologised for incorrectly announcing the Queen’s death. Yalda mistakenly tweeted the monarch had died as fears grow for her health.

The host of BBC World News’ Impact with Yalda Hakim’s apology came following her tweet at 15:07pm where she wrote: “BREAKING: Queen Elizabeth II has died aged 96. Buckingham Palace has announced.”

The Queen is currently under medical supervision at Balmoral after doctors became concerned for her health, Buckingham Palace said.

The statement read: “Following further evaluation [on Thursday morning, September 8], the Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”

Following her mistake, Yalda wrote an apology on Twitter: “I tweeted that there had been an announcement about the death of the Queen.

“This was incorrect, there has been no announcement, and so I have deleted the tweet. I apologise.”

Senior members of the Royal Family have travelled to Balmoral to join the Queen at her bedside following the rare announcement of doctors being “concerned” for the monarch’s health.
