Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is a distinguished personality who should be respected for the august office he occupies; Dr. Samuel Afriyie has advised contestants challenging him for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking in a studio interview on the Wontumi Morning Show, Dr. Afriyie stated that some contestants are using the contest as a medium to use unprintable words and languages on vice President Bawumia.
“The vice President doesn’t attack any personality. One thing about his campaign is that I have seen that he doesn’t attack any of his competitors. I will keep and say that he is the vice President so those competing with him shouldn’t see him as their equal level. They are not equal in the sense that he is the vice President of this country so if he has availed himself to compete for a position in the party, you don’t assume he is your coequal”, he warned.
He continued that vice President Bawumia is spotless despite being human. “If he would speak against any person it is my own church member (Mahama) that he retaliates to. And even with that he doesn’t insult him”, he explained.
Dr. Afriyie therefore advised Hon. Kennedy Agyapong and supporters of the other aspirants to respect the office Bawumia occupies.
