Barcelona’s spending limit slashed by €379m

LaLiga have cut Barcelona’s spending cap for the new season from €649m to €270m.

Real Madrid have the highest limit for the 2023/2024 campaign at €727m.

Atletico Madrid’s limit is pegged at €296m.

Sevilla (€168m) and Villarreal (€143m) make up the top five, while Deportivo Alaves (€31m) have the league’s lowest cap.

LaLiga determines the limit using the difference between a team’s revenue minus non-sporting outgoings and debt repayments.

The final figure then becomes the maximum amount clubs can spend on wages, bonuses and amortisation payments on transfers across a season, not how much they are necessarily spending.

Clubs that spend beyond their limit are subject to certain restrictions.
