Bahamas To Receive 300 Teachers From Ghana In New Labour Agreement – Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that Ghana will deploy 300 teachers to the Bahamas as part of part of a new bilateral agreement in education.

Representing President Mahama in Bahamas to celebrate their 53rd Independence day celebration, the minister engaged with the Bahamian government on what Ghana can do to help strengthen the country’s educational sector.

“I am delighted to announce that following official negotiations, Bahamas is ready to receive 300 Ghanaian teachers this year to boost education in that brotherly and beautiful country. This will be the first phase of a new cooperation in education,” he said.

He also talked proudly about a similar agreement under the health sector where Ghanaian nurses were sent to Bahamas which has yeilded much satisfaction from the Bahamian government.

The minister said, “It gives us much pride to highlight that Bahamian authorities are deeply impressed with the excellent work ethic of Ghanaian nurses serving under a similar agreement.”

Hon. Okudzeto explained that the two agreements (health and education) between Bahamas and Ghana will usher in a new era of bilateral cooperations between the two countries, where an expanded number of issues and agreements will be put on the table.

The minister said all this while congratulating the good people of the Bahamas on their independence day celebrations.

“The 300 Ghanaian teachers will usher a new era of expanded labour mobility beyond health workers between our two nations.

The Republic of Ghana and the Commonwealth of Bahamas share an unbreakable ancestral bond with an overwhelming majority of Bahamians tracing their ancestry and heritage to Ghana.

Ghana congratulates the Commonwealth of Bahamas on this milestone and looks forward to more celebrations and strategic partnerships, he said.”
