(Audios) Deputy Speaker’s Brother Allegedly Threatens To Kill NPP Member He Claims Supports Ralph Poku-Adusei in Bekwai Constituency

Brother of an incumbent member of Parliament for the Bekwai constituency in the Ashanti Region, and 1st deputy speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu (Joe Wise), has threatened to kill a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency he claims supports the candidature of Ralph Poku-Adusei for MP in the 2024 general elections.

The two persons according to a police complaint filed by the victim of the threat, William Bonsu, a polling station member, were engaged in a chat on a “WhatsApp” platform called “Coalition to Elect Nana and Bawumia “(CENAB Bekwai) and not being pleased with a comment by Kofi Buapen, also known as Edward Osei (brother of Joe Wise), William Bonsu registered his displeasure on the platform.

Threat to kill

Edward Osei subsequently sent a private voice note to William Bonsu where he threatened him. In his threat, Edward Osei is heard stating that he is capable of taking care of William Bonsu and his entire family and if he thinks he has any form of security and guarantees following Ralph Poku-Adusei, he is certainly mistaken.

The victim of the threat

“I have lived a better life than your [William Bonsu] father. You are a madman and a fool. If I were your uncle, you would have been better off. You are a madman and a fool.

“The fact that we are both on the same platform does not make me your co-equal. You are a fool. Do you think following Ralph [Ralph Poku-Adusei] means you have arrived and do you think Ralph [Ralph Poku-Adusei] is my co-equal” Edward Osei said in his voice note?

“You are a madman, you are a fool, how dare you. You are warned, in you mess with me, I will kill you. Do you know me? You a mad” Kofi Buapen, also known as Edward Osei (brother of Joe Wise), is heard further stating in his voice note.

Bekwai Parliamentary seat

Joseph Osei-Owusu, even though was a member of the New Patriotic Party, he contested as an independent candidate in the 2008 elections after losing in the NPP primaries to represent the party as its candidate.

He has gone on to win the Bekwai seat in 2012, 2016 and 2020 elections on the ticket of the NPP. However, Mr Osei-Owusu has given the strongest indication yet that he is no longer interested in contesting for the Bekwai constituency parliamentary seat in the 2024 general elections.
