Atonsu: Armed Robbers Punch Bank Security Officer To Death
Residents of Atonsu a suburb of Kumasi were on Thursday morning thrown into a mournful state after a 32-year-old security officer for Adansi Rural Bank, Alex Opoku was allegedly beaten to death by armed robbers.
The Assembly Member for Atonsu Agogo North Electoral Area, Hon. Eric Osei told Wontumi Radio’s Nana Fokuo Dwomoh that he had information that armed robbers have shot to death a security officer.
But according to the Assembly member upon reaching the scene it was the opposite.
“He struggled with the perpetrators and lost his life in the process,” he said
The Atonsu Agogo North Assembly Member expressed shock about the gruesome incident because it’s the first time the area has experienced such.
He expressed hope that with the help of CCTV cameras the perpetrators would be brought to book.
Meanwhile, Fokuo Dwomoh reported the armed robbers managed to break the padlock on the bank room and destroyed the ATM machine but couldn’t get access to where the monies were kept.
The body of Alex Opoku has been deposited at the morgue.
