Assin District Cries For Investors’ Help To Maximize Its Tourism Potential
The District Chief Executive of Assin South, Derick Owusu-Ambrose , has commended the traditional leaders in his area for instituting stringent measures that have strictly protected the two major tourism destinations in the area.
The treasured resources are the famous slave market and the Donkor Nsuo (slave river) at Assin Manso.
According to Hon Owusu Ambrose, because of stringent supervision, it has become impossible for any miscreant to encroach on any of the zoned catchment area of the strategic tourism potentials yet to be fully tapped to reflect and enhance its international relevance.
“We shall always be grateful to Nananom for ensuring that what we inherited from our predecessors have been conserved and preserved as a valuable legacy to his day.” He noted.
He said as part of measures to protect the resources, a constant watch is maintained to ensure that nobody infringes on the protected land space “and we have succeeded.”
However, as he noted, a major challenge confronting the district is how to attract genuine investors to to give the vital resource a major facelift to make it more attractive to especially, the diasporan community.
“Our goal is to make Assin Manso a befitting tourism enclave but this can be possible only if investors come on board to help develop the area.” He said.
According to him what would make the place more attractive to tourists is the availability of a well-equipped hotel facility with all the attractions to maximize the potential.
“We are however, looking up to the Ghana Tourist Authority which is managing the resource to develop proposals that will win the trust and confidence of investors.
