Assin Central Delegates Wear Bawumia T-Shirts; Says It’s Democracy

Delegates in the Assin Central Constituency were clad in T-shirts of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in apparent defiance of orders from the Constituency Chairman at a meeting with the second gentleman of the land who is vying to lead the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2024 general election.

The delegates were said to have been instructed by Chairman Attakora Amaniampong, not to accept and wear the t-shirts of Dr. Bawumia.

However, they resisted the orders and gleefully wore the t-shirts of the vice president in their meeting with him.

According to some polling station executives and electoral area coordinators, they resisted the orders in not meeting the Vice President in his T-shirts.

Vice President Bawumia visited the Assin Central Constituency yesterday as party of his campaign tour to the Central Region.

“We were told never to accept any t-shirt from the Bawumia campaign team for obvious reasons, but we have decided not to abide by this order” a polling station chairman stated.

Another delegate informed journalists about the order and gave reasons why they decided to defy it.

“This is democracy. We are one party and family. Why should we mistreat Dr. Bawumia because an aspirant comes from here? If Dr. Bawumia wins, how can we go out there to campaign for him to become president if we maltreat him today? This is why I am in his t-shirt”, he indicated.

During the meeting, the delegates heartily welcomed Vice President Bawumia as they praised him for his competent leadership.
