Assembly Election: Chairman Wontumi Leads NPP To Win NDC’s New Edubiase

.Chairman Wontumi has led the NPP to win the assembly elections at New Edubiase, a stronghold of the NDC for the first time.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, is excited by the number of slots candidates affiliated to his party won during last Tuesday’s District Assembly Elections.

According to the NPP Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, for the very first time, the NPP has fifteen (15) representatives against the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) eight (8) representatives.

“New Edubiase, for the first time we have the majority of Assemblymen there. NDC used to have it but NPP now has 15 and the NDC has 8… Things have changed and we thank Asanteman”, Chairman Wontumi said.

The district-level elections, scheduled by the Electoral Commission (EC) took place on Tuesday, December 19.

Over 66,000 individuals are competing for assembly and unit committee positions in the upcoming local polls.

The EC’s statistics indicate 18,755 assembly member candidates and 47,502 unit committee member candidates, totaling 66,257 candidates.
