The Assemblies of God church under the leadership of Dr Stephen Wengam has become an extension of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Samuel Afriyie has said with worry.
As a concerned member of the church, Dr. Samuel Afriyie stated that ever since the mantle was handled over to Reverend Dr Stephen Wengam to lead the church, his political allegiance has overshadowed his core mandate for the church.
“He is always following a certain presidential candidate”, Dr. Samuel Afriyie pointed out.
For this reason, Dr. Afriyie who is part of the concerned members who have petitioned the presbyteries of Assemblies of God, stated on the Wontumi Morning Show that his church has now become a wing of the NDC.
“Our theme for this year is Send the Light…Since he became our leader, we have observed from afar that there is partisan interest from our leader… It is changing the direction of the church”, he observed.
Dr. Afriyie urged the elders of the church to advise Dr. Wengam and remind him that Assemblies of God “isn’t a partisan organization”.
“He is collapsing the church with such moves. We have had Prof Frimpong Manso and we didn’t see this trend of partisan approach”, he further argued.
