Asokwa Social Welfare Department Engages Stakeholders On Child Protection Measures.

The Social Welfare and Community Development Department in the Asokwa Municipal Assembly has organized an activity on Child Protection with key stakeholders in the municipality.

The program was held to deliberate on harmful practices against children.

It also focused on good and bad parenting as well as the role of religious bodies in child upbringing.

Other aspects that was tackled involved the role and responsibilities of school authorities, traditional leaders and the support that could be offered by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Police to children.

Speaking to this reporter,  Director of the Department, Mr Dickson Frimpong said he was encouraged by the enthusiasm shown by stakeholders in Asokwa towards children.

He noted that participants showed they were concerned with everything that has to do with children and how to raise them well in the Asokwa Municipality.

Mr Frimpong said stakeholders resolved to religiously monitor social gatherings including funerals in communities to protect children from participating

They also agreed to the conscious instilling of knowledge and good morals into children in Asokwa.

The stakeholders resolved that homes must serve as a standard model for children as charity begins at home.

EDUCATION DIRECTOR:
On his part, Rev Ebenezer Oteng Marfo,  Asokwa Municipal Director of Education called for more sensitization in the communities of Asokwa.

He noted that this would help to get parents the right information to apply to the raising of their children.

The Director said the public would then become aware of their responsibilities towards children.

“We owe it as a duty to teach our children the best ways to conduct themselves so that when they grow they can become useful and responsible citizens of society”, Rev Marfo noted.
