ATMOSPHERE:
Even though the advertised time for the constituency elections was 8am, as early as 6am members of the New Patriotic Party who are from the various polling stations in the 14 electoral areas were seen thronging to the venue.
This unusual early outing, however, has become synonymous with internal party elections in Ghana where candidates try last minute canvassing of votes from early birds.
Sometimes monetary favours and motivation packages are dished out at such gatherings by some aspirants.
However, one encouraging aspect was the orderly and calm manner the delegates conducted themselves at the Edward Osei Kwaku Community Center before polls and during polls with only one incident happening during vote counting as a misunderstanding ensued between two friends who were supporting different candidates.
MESSAGE:
But speaking at the end of proceedings which was conducted by the Electoral Commission supported by the Elections Committee, the retained Chairman, Fosu Nkromah promised to lead with unity.
He rallied all elected persons to join him lead with such mindset so that they could reach out to all losing and disgruntled party members back to the fold of the NPP.
Popularly called “Reverend”, the Assemblies of God preacher called for hard work from all party members, insisting that the NPP can only break the 8 year governing cycle when members put their shoulders to the wheel to work.
Mr Nkromah in a remarkable way dedicated his victory at the polls to the Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Madam Patricia Appiagyei and also thanked the elections committee for overseeing a smooth process from the polling station to the constituency executive elections.
