A political analyst and a revered Chief, Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II, has questioned the rationale behind the insult by former President Mahama that even if the New Patriotic Party fields a goat as Parliamentary Candidate (PC) at Akyem Tafo, the party would still win.
During his recent tour to the Eastern region, the presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) alleged that the ruling NPP is taking residents at Akyem Tafo for granted despite the massive support they have received over the years.
He continued that the NPP believes even if they present a goat with the colours of NPP, the people will still vote for them.
But Nana Oteatuoso Kokobeng II who hails from the region challenged the claim and noted that the NPP respects the people of Akyem Tafo.
He stated that never would the NPP field a goat as PC and wondered if the former President would consider NDC PCs fielded in their strongholds, as “goats”.
“You made a sad statement at Tafo. I don’t know what we have done against you. Can you say the same thing in Volta region? You always enter the Eastern region with insults. Even in your stronghold, you don’t let animals represent you. There is no way a political party would let an animal represent them”, he said to Mr. John Mahama.
