Allowances approved for presidential spouses would reduce expenses on slay queens, Richard Boadu has indicated.
The member of the Progressive People Party (PPP) in an interview on Wontumi TV, stated that the decision by the Seventh Parliament of Ghana to increase allowances given to spouses of the President and the Vice-President is laudable and shouldn’t be condemned.
He used former President John Mahama and his wife Lordina Mahama as examples of a first family that suffered public disgrace because it was alleged Lordina took moneys belonging to an Ambassador of the Ghana AIDS Commission.
According to Richard Boadu, Lordina Mahama wouldn’t have gotten herself into such drama if she had regular salary paid to her at the end of every month.
Richard Boadu also indicated that the formalization of allowances given to first and second ladies, would reduce the expenses on slay queens who force themselves on Presidents.
