The video of Rev. Balthazar Obeng Larbi has gone viral with the public calling for him to be sanctioned. The video has come to the notice of the Anglican church and they have expressed their sadness over the disturbing incident.

The church which is supposed to be a bastion of morality has expressed sadness over the indecent actions of the priest who is under their jurisdiction and has stated that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the occurrence.

In a statement undersigned by Venerable Dr. George Dawson-Ahmoah, Executive Director to the Metropolitan Archbishop of Ghana, the church expressed its stance on the matter thus:

“The attention of the hierarchy of the Anglican Church, Ghana under the leadership of the Most Rev’d Dr. Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith has been drawn to a circulating video of a Priest kissing some female students of the St. Monica’s College of Education with the Asante-Mampong diocese.

“The church is saddened by the news and wish to state expressly that, thorough investigation has immediately been instituted into the matter and the action of the said priest will be dealt with in accordance with the norms and values of the Anglican Communion where morality is extremely revered in the church.

All further clarifications on this matter should be undersigned to 0244351338. Meanwhile all efforts are being made to engage the students concerned through counseling sessions to avert any psychological issues that may arise as a result of the viral video.”

The public is hoping the church will stay true to its words and mete out the necessary sanctions to Rev. Balthazar Obeng Larbi to serve as a deterrent to other priests who are supposed to be protectors of their students and not abusers.
