Lawyer Kwame Adom Appiah has categorically stated that investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, must not be allowed to wear his veil in court.

The lawyer, who is also the New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti Regional Secretary, stated on Wontumi TV that allowing Anas to wear “cocoa bɔtɔ” to wit a veil, in court is equally to giving him a preferential treatment before the law.

He argued that the law wasn’t crafted to give some special treatment whilst being hard on others.

“The moment he wants to bring people’s integrity to the chopping board, he must have courage to defend it”, lawyer Appiah said.

The Supreme Court has ordered investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas to appear in open Court to face the former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The High Court granted an oral application by the prosecution in the criminal case of Kwesi Nyantakyi for Anas Aremeyaw Anas to give evidence in-camera as a prosecution witness.

The decision of the court was challenged by lawyers of Kwesi Nyantakyi who filed a certiorari application at the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court, presided over by Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, in its ruling on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, stated that the celebrated investigative journalist should appear in court and testify publicly as a prosecution witness.
