The Majority Leader of Parliament, Hon. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has also said that Bagbin didn’t win the elections but the leadership in Parliament conferred it on him.
In an interview with Wontumi Radio/TV Chairman Wontumi further said that, Ghana has been matured in democracy and that since Alban Bagbin has been the longest serving MP, both NPP and NDC agreed to select him to be the speaker.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP indicated that, it was also compromised that both 1st Deputy and 2nd Deputy Speakers should be NPP MPs.
According to Chairman Wontumi, he believed that with the spirit of late former Presidents, J.J Rawlings and John Evans Atta Mills, the new Speaker of Parliament will help Nana Akufo-Addo to govern the country.
