Akwanserehene of Akyem Kwabeng, Etwienana Baffour Oteatuoso Kokoben II, has called on the people of Akyem to forgive the flagbearer of the opposition NDC, John Mahama for his derogatory comments made against the people of Akyem descent.
He urged his clans men to pray for John Mahama instead and allow him to embark on his campaign.
“Let’s all exercise restraint. John Mahama has been President of the Republic before. A time came when he had all the security apparatus to protect him, but now he has no such power to fall on.” He told Oheneba Nana Asiedu, host of Wontumi Radio and TV’s early Morning Show programme on Tuesday morning,
He called on the people of the Akyem area to allow John Mahama to campaign within the boundaries of any of the communities that the NDC’s flagbearer may choose to organize a political activity.
“We will bless John Mahama if he steps on Akyem land to campaign.” He said
“I am an Akyem, and I know we are not ‘Sakawa and Mafias’. We are a decent people who are law abiding. We may have our wrongs like everybody including John Mahama and his brother, Adongo, but certainly, we are not what he wants the whole world to believe we are. ” He said
The Akyem Royal appealed to the the people to concentrate on how to publicise the three and half a years achievements of Nana Akufo-Addo rather than focusing on the “Akyem Sakawa and Mafia” taunts.
“Concentrate on the good wind blowing all over the country and make a good decision come December 7..” Nana Oteatuoso urged the Akyem people.
