Akua Denteh: Seven Accused Persons Discharged
seven accused persons standing trial at the Bole Magistrate Court over the lynching of Akua Denteh at Kafaba have been remanded into police custody.
The presiding magistrate, Andrew Prince Cudjoe discharged the accused persons on their earlier charge sheets but they were rearrested by police at the court premises.
The magistrate then directed the police to remand them into custody to reappear on Friday, September 18.
He charged the accused persons to cooperate with police.
Briefing the media after the proceedings, the State Attorney at the Tamale High Court, Salia Abdul Kudus, said the dockets of all seven accused persons who were arrested on different occasions have to be consolidated.
All accused persons who have been provisionally charged with murder pleaded not guilty to the charge.
It will be recalled that on Thursday, July 23, 90-year-old Akua Denteh was lynched.
In a video that went viral, two woman who are all in custody were seen abusing the deceased while others looked on.
Meanwhile, three other suspects on the police wanted list are still at large.
