Akonta Mining Proposes Ghana Gold Bank

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Akonta Mining Company Limited, Bernard Antwi Boasiako has proposed a Ghana Gold Bank.

This he noted will not only attract foreign investors but put values on Ghanaians by each owning a gold at the bank.

Chairman Wontumi as he is popularly called, was addressing participants at a 2-day mining workshop held at Takoradi in the Western Region.

The strategic workshop was under the organization of the University of Oxford African Studies Centre and Ghana Gold Expo Foundation.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling NPP, spoke on the topic, “Sustainable Development In Ghana’s Good Mines: The Role of Local Participants”.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako was hopeful that every Ghanaian owning just a bar of gold will keep money in the country.

“When there’s money in the system it attracts investors and this will be huge money called ‘The Hope Of Gold, The Hope Of Ghana Economy”, he emphasized.

He opined that local Large and Small Scale Miners need assistance and it’s about time government come to their aid.
