Abu Trica’s Lawyer Reveals Next Line Of Action After Bail

Counsel for Frederick Kumi, popularly known as Abu Trica, has outlined the next legal steps following the High Court’s decision to grant his client bail in the sum of GH¢30 million with two sureties to be justified.

According to the lawyer, Sani Abdul Salam, efforts are underway to obtain a certified true copy of the court’s ruling to enable them to commence the execution of the bail conditions as required by law.

He explained that the bail was granted to ensure the accused person’s availability in court as and when his extradition and related proceedings resume.

The lawyer indicated that the defence team is working to ensure full compliance with the court’s directives.

Abu Trica remains in custody despite the ruling, as he is still challenging efforts to extradite him over allegations linked to an $8 million romance scam and wire fraud case.

The next trial date is yet to be announced.

The bail decision comes at a time when the court is actively handling competing applications in the matter, including earlier proceedings in which his legal team sought to halt extradition.

The Gbese Circuit Court had previously dismissed an application to stop the extradition process and instead directed that he could be handed over to United States authorities, while granting him a limited 15-day window to challenge the ruling through a habeas corpus application.
