The member of Parliament for Mampong and deputy minister for Foreign Affairs, Kwaku Ampratwum -Sarpong, has said that, the member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is a liar.
According to him, Mr Ablakwa was consulted before the approval of the new passport application fee.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration on 1st April, 2024, increased passport fees.
Following the hike, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has slammed the government for the increment, explaining that, the new price will not be attained due to the prevailing economic crisis.
In a response on Wontumi TV, on 4th April, 2024, Mr Sarpong emphatically stated that, he engaged some members of the opposition NDC, including Ablakwa on the revision of the passport prices and he consented.
“I have been engaging the NDC leadership on this issue for the last one year. I met Okudzeto Ablakwa about 5 consecutive times and he was in support of it.
He even mentioned that the figures were not sustainable so there was a need for the increment. I also engaged former minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu, and Muntaka, member of Parliament for Asawase constituency twice, and they all approved.
Even with this current leadership, I met Ato Forson and he said the same thing” he stressed.
