A/R: Verbal Attacks On Chief Imam – NPP Nasara Wing Cautions NDC Members
The Ashanti Regional co-ordinator of Nasara, Alhaji Saalim Bamba has said that, for the past weeks he has noticed series of insults being hurled by some NDC members at the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Mumin Haroun.
According to him, the insults have become so rampant within the NDC circles.
Speaking on Islamic Hour programme on Wontumi TV and Radio Alhaji Saalim Bamba cautioned the NDC faithful and their flagbearer, John Mahama, that they will not countenance the insults on traditional leaders and the Chief Imam in the Region.
He recalled that, in the 2012 elections, a prominent NDC man in the north, Murtala Mohammed, who was once a serial caller subjected a number of traditional leaders, opinion leaders and Chief Imams to insults yet he was later appointed as a Deputy Minister of Trade.
“This creates the impression that the NDC is a party that eventually rewards with high positions those who do their bidding by showing disrespect to prominent leaders in the country .” He said.
Alhaji Saalim Bamba further lamented that , “It is inappropriate for those NDC members to say that the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam should take off his turban and resign but this will not wash.”
He cautioned , “The insults you are raining on traditional leaders in the Zongo Communities will not get anywhere.”
According to Mr. Bamba, when someone insults the Chief Imam impliedly the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is being denigrated because it is solely by his royal majesty’s authority that one can serve in that high office
He however, pleaded with the NDC members in the Zongo communities to be mindful of the consequences of their insults targeted at persons found within and outside the Region.
