IGP Yohunu Should Prioritize the Welfare of the Police – COP Alix Mensah RTD

Retired COP George Alix Mensah has urged COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu, new Inspector-General of Police (IGP),  to prioritize the welfare of police officers.

According to COP Mensah, the jubilation among police officers following the change in leadership indicates that they were not happy with the previous administration under Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

COP Mensah criticized Dr. Dampare’s leadership style, stating that he prioritized social media attention over the welfare and interests of the police.

He also mentioned that there was intimidation and insecurity among Ghanaians and police officers during Dr. Dampare’s tenure.

As the new IGP, COP Yohunu is expected to bring his wealth of experience and expertise to the forefront of Ghana’s law enforcement efforts.

COP Mensah’s advice to prioritize the welfare of police officers is timely, as it is essential to boost morale and enhance their effectiveness in maintaining law and order.

Speaking in an interview with Wontumi TV, COP Mensah noted, the police officers’ jubilation is a clear indication that they are looking forward to a new era of leadership that prioritizes their well-being.

“The COP Yohunu I know has a reputation for being an outstanding officer, known for his exceptional leadership and commitment to combating crime”

COP Yohunu has career spans over 40 years, with notable appointments including Divisional Commander for Accra Central, Accra Regional Operations Commander, and Director-General of the Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD)
