Former Deputy Minister for agriculture, has added his voice to the growing calls for an investigation into the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) defeat in the 2024 December general elections.
In an interview with Kwaku Dawuro on Movement in the morning show on Movement TV/Wontumi radio, Mr. Oduro emphasized the need for the party to conduct a thorough postmortem analysis to identify the causes of their loss.
According to him, one of the key factors that may have contributed to the NPP’s defeat is the lack of support from some of the party’s own MPs for their constituency members. He suggested that this lack of support may have demotivated some party members and led to a lack of enthusiasm among voters.
To move forward, Oduro emphasized the need for party members to put aside bitterness and work towards unity. He also recommended changes to the delegates system to promote greater cohesion within the party. Additionally, Oduro encouraged non-Akan people to embrace the Akan people, fostering a sense of inclusivity and cooperation.
“The NPP is a party that values unity and inclusivity. We need to work together to rebuild and strengthen our party. We must put aside our differences and work towards a common goal,” Mr. Oduro said.
Oduro’s comments come at a time when the NPP is undergoing a period of introspection and soul-searching following their defeat in the 2024 elections. The party has promised to conduct a thorough review of their campaign strategy and to make necessary changes to ensure future success.
