National Nasara Coordinator aspirant of the New Patriotic Party, Alhaji Ali Suraj, has outlined his vision for the party’s Nasara wing, centring his campaign on grassroots mobilisation and a rebranding of the Zongos.
His vision is to unite the grassroots structures of the party in the Zongos to help secure the NPP’s victory in the 2028 election.
Alhaji Suraj believes the role of Nasara Coordinator comes with significant challenges, given the scale of the task ahead. He describes it as a full-time job that demands full commitment.
“The NPP National Executive is bigger than something you take on as a part-time job it is a full-time job. Every constituency, out of the 276 constituencies, has a Nasara rep and a deputy,” he said.
He sees communication as central to the role, noting that he cannot engage communities through a translator when he and the people speak different languages. His solution to bridging this communication gap is to place representatives in every community.
“You need to set up a working committee so that those committees can engage their various areas. When I go to a Kotokoli area, I will need a translator because I don’t understand Kotokoli. Translation is only necessary in critical situations. We will get a leader for every community who understands it better, to be able to pass the message of our party and flagbearer down to the grassroots,” he stated.
The Nasara Coordinator aspirant has vowed to work towards rebranding the grassroots wing, with a focus on effectively communicating the party’s message.
“Our task will be to change the face and mentality of the Zongos,” he said, adding that he is prepared to engage and even seek forgiveness wherever a situation demands it.
“As a politician, you will have to deal with asking for forgiveness all the time,” he said.
